The creation of custom furniture is a collaborative journey that unfolds through distinct phases. Each phase builds upon the previous one, ensuring that the final piece accurately reflects your vision while meeting functional and aesthetic requirements.

01

Initial Consultation

We begin with a conversation about your needs, preferences, and constraints. This initial meeting helps us understand not just what you want, but why you want it. We discuss functionality requirements, aesthetic preferences, space constraints, and timeline expectations.

During this phase, we may review reference images, discuss materials you're drawn to, and explore how the piece will relate to existing furniture and architecture. We ask questions about usage patterns, maintenance preferences, and any specific challenges your space presents.

This consultation can take place in person, via video call, or through detailed written communication, depending on your location and preference. We gather enough information to begin developing preliminary concepts.

02

Design Development

Based on our consultation, we develop initial design concepts. These typically include rough sketches or digital renderings that illustrate proportions, basic forms, and key design elements. We present these concepts along with material recommendations and discuss the rationale behind design decisions.

Your feedback during this phase is crucial. We refine the design based on your responses, adjusting proportions, changing details, or exploring alternative approaches. This iterative process continues until we arrive at a design that meets your approval.

Once the design direction is established, we create detailed drawings or specifications. These documents outline dimensions, material selections, joinery methods, and finish details. We may provide material samples so you can see and feel the actual woods, hardware, or finishes we propose.

03

Fabrication

With approved designs and materials selected, fabrication begins. We source materials from suppliers we've worked with and trust, selecting individual boards or panels that meet our quality standards and match the aesthetic requirements of your project.

In the workshop, we follow traditional and modern techniques to transform raw materials into finished components. Joints are cut with precision, surfaces are shaped and smoothed, and each element is carefully fitted. Throughout fabrication, we maintain quality control, checking dimensions and fit as we progress.

We keep you informed of progress during this phase, sharing photos of work in progress when helpful. If unexpected issues arise or opportunities for improvement present themselves, we communicate these developments and discuss any necessary adjustments.

04

Finishing

Finishing is where the character of the wood is enhanced and protected. We prepare surfaces through careful sanding, then apply stains, oils, or protective coatings according to the specifications we've established. Multiple coats may be applied, with sanding between coats for a smooth, professional result.

The finish protects the wood from moisture, wear, and environmental changes while allowing the natural beauty of the material to show through. We select finishes based on the wood species, intended use, maintenance preferences, and aesthetic goals.

05

Delivery & Installation

Before delivery, we conduct a final quality inspection, ensuring that the piece meets our standards and matches the agreed-upon specifications. We coordinate delivery timing to suit your schedule.

Depending on the piece and your location, delivery may involve our team transporting and installing the furniture, or we may arrange for pickup at our workshop. For larger pieces or built-ins, we can schedule installation to ensure proper fitting and placement.

Upon delivery, we review care instructions and answer any questions you may have about maintenance or use. We're available for follow-up communication should any questions or concerns arise after delivery.
